About Leaf

Shannon

I’m Shannon Steven:
I live in Wellington, New Zealand. I study International Relations and Political Science, as well as working, and sitting on the couch a lot. I enjoy long walks in remote forests, kickboxing, and having my feet on, or near, the ground as often as possible.

Currently, I’m learning how to scuba dive (look ma, I’m a Padi certified open water diver!) I’m also learning how to kick ass in the coolest way! I’ve recently joined Taekwon Do, and with any luck I’ll stop sucking at it some time soon.

My full name is Shannon Leigh Steven but people only call me that when I’ve done something very badly thought out. I’m not that fond of my middle name, being that I only ever hear it directly before I get yelled at.

My first ever post:
The day I change the world.

Shannon on Karaoke:
I believe that if one day I find myself at the gates of hell, I’ll be greeted by a small overweight man holding a microphone and demanding that I sing karaoke until the end of time. It would be my very own personal version of penance.

I take pictures:
And I post them here.

I am totally contact-able:
At the worlds lamest email address: tiglet101@hotmail.com.

  1. Hi Shannon,
you live in Wellington. Wow! Ever since my wife and I travelled to New Zealand, it is our most favorite place in the world!

So greetings from far away Germany!

  2. I’m glad you enjoyed it :) Wellington is pretty much my favorite place to live so far because there’s SO MUCH variety in such a small city. It looked like you had some pictures from Karori Wildlife centre too, that’s right up the top of my list of fun things to do around the city!

I also enjoy Wellington because I know where all the cheap drinks are at. That helps too.

  3. Great blog, shame about the city but you can’t have everything I guess.. ;-)

Just kidding. If I had the choice between Wellington, Dunedin and Kabul I would pick Wellington every time too.

  4. Thanks for dropping by, and Wellington is the best… Even with all the wind (If I was a native Wellingtonite I would be all ‘wind, what wind?’ ;)

  5. And if I was a Rotoruan I would be like “smell, what smell?”

I am going to set up camp in this corner of your blog. Hope you don’t mind. Thought I might learn something.

  6. The karaoke hell thing is hilarious!
I hope you never have to endure that sort of torture.

  7. I hope so too!

  15. i thought i left a comment here ! did it get deleted ? stinkerbockers.

  16. I moderate comments from new people… And yeah Wellington kind of rocks.

  17. oh shaaamme.

  18. I was reading your blog, and only realised that you were from NZ when I saw the “Trade Me” comment. Sweet! I’m in Christchurch, enjoying the current bout of interesting weather we’re having?

  19. Ha cool, for some reason I can never find good NZ blogs… there are a whole heap of ones started back in 2007 that people have abandoned after 3 posts…

And the weather in Wellington is crazy - although not crazy windy yet. That’s the worst bit of winter here, all the wind. Last winter I had one good hair day, and that was more of a fluke than anything special I did.
